Katarina Markt, Managing Director of CTRO, successfully participated in the panel discussion held on the 2nd day of the International Donor Conference on humanitarian demining of Ukraine, where more than 150 experts from 30 countries were gathered.

On Thursday, October 12, 2023, at the Westin Hotel, on the second day of the International Donor Conference on Humanitarian Demining of Ukraine, four expert panel discussions were held in the organization of the Directorate of Civil Protection of the Ministry of the Interior, in which prominent world experts in the field of mine action took part and representatives of relevant international organizations whose focus is mine action.

At the expert panels, the level of mine pollution in the Ukrainian territory was highlighted and the needs of the Ukrainian anti-mine system were stated, during which, priority demining of critical infrastructure, as well as agricultural areas, was highlighted. The best practices of experts from around the world were presented and the direction of strengthening Ukraine's mine action capacities was proposed, with a key first step - the adoption of a national mine action strategy. Representatives of international organizations and financial institutions presented models for collecting the necessary resources for comprehensive mine action approach in Ukraine.

On the third panel, the capabilities of the Croatian mine action system were presented, as well as the possibilities of providing assistance to Ukraine in the form of transfer of knowledge, experience, education, establishment of a system for testing and certification of equipment used in humanitarian demining operations, but also in manpower and modern technologies for solving the mine problem , where Katarina Markt gave a presentation and presented the possibilities that CTRO offers in providing assistance to Ukraine.

In addition to participating in the formal part of the Zagreb conference, on October 11, 2023 DOK-ING hosted more than 40 international stakeholders, including CTRO representatives, and Managing Director Katarina Markt held a presentation on the possibilities of providing assistance to Ukraine from the perspective of training and certification.

The conference, organized by the Governments of the Republic of Croatia and Ukraine, is designed as a platform for the united and coordinated mobilization of resources for Ukraine's recovery efforts, starting with humanitarian demining, as a prerequisite for the country's further economic recovery.
