Closing conference of "Demining and socio-economic integration"
On Thursday, November 9, 2023, the closing conference of the project "Demining and socio-economic integration" was held in Zagreb, where the results of the project and the implemented activities financed by Swiss-Croatian cooperation were presented.
The conference was opened by the director of the Directorate of Civil Protection, Mr. Damir Trut, who pointed out that this project includes two, for Croatia, very important components, humanitarian demining and assistance to mine victims and their family members, and expressed gratitude for everything done through the project, primarily the Swiss Federal council, as donors of significant funds, but also to everyone who participated in the implementation in any way.
The ambassador of the Swiss Confederation H.E. Urs Hammer also addressed the participants, who said that Switzerland and Croatia have developed close cooperation over the years, including in the field of humanitarian demining.
For the first time financial resources were allocated to mine victims and their families as part of the Support program in the field of psychosocial, educational and advisory assistance to registered mine victims and their family members, which was implemented by CTRO in cooperation with Social Association. Activities carried out by CTRO were presented by Željka Krhač, Advisor to the Managng Director for international cooperation.
The program of socio-economic integration of mine victims was financed in the amount of CHF 200,000.00, and the initiation of new and improvement of existing jobs for 15 mine victims and their immediate family members was also financed.
