2nd International Conference “Mine Action – The Path to Reaching Sustainable Development Goals” gathered the leaders of the world mine action community

Director of HCR-CTRO, Katarina Markt, together with the leaders of international mine action community participated on the 2nd International Conference “Mine Action – The Path to Reaching Sustainable Development Goals”, which took place from May 24 to 26 in the cities of Baku and Aghdam, Azerbaijan.

The conference was jointly organized by ANAMA and UNDP.

The main goal of the conference was to inform the international community about the scale of the mine problem and its consequences.

In addition, given the global nature of the problem, the conference participants adopted the Declaration for the Improvement of Global Mine Action, which, among other things, emphasized that humanitarian demining is one of the fundamentals for sustainable development in countries threatened by landmines, progress towards achieving the goals of sustainable development and the acceleration of peace process.

The former president of the Republic of Croatia, Mr. Stjepan Mesić, also participated in the conference, and gave a speech entitled: Global partnerships for achieving a mine-free world.
